Statement of Work for ERB SE-12 Magtrol Dynamometer Repair
The Magtrol dynamometer experienced significant water intrusion resulting from a burst HVAC
coil in the test cell. The unit was shipped to Magtrol, the original equipment manufacturer
(OEM), in March 2026 for evaluation to determine whether it could be repaired or if full
replacement would be required. Magtrol completed its inspection in June 2026 and determined
that the unit is repairable, with an estimated repair cost at approximately half the cost of
replacement.
Magtrol is the sole vendor qualified to perform repair and calibration services on their
dynamometers. Their equipment incorporates proprietary components, firmware, and calibration
methods that are not available to third-party service providers. As a result, only Magtrol can
ensure the unit is restored to OEM specifications and accuracy requirements.
Sourcing the repair to a third-party vendor is not practical or cost-effective, as alternative
vendors lack the technical capability and authorization to service Magtrol systems. Additionally,
shipping the unit to any non-OEM provider would introduce unnecessary packaging, handling,
and transportation expenses, along with increased risk of further damage and additional delays to
the research schedule.
