SPECIFICATION OF SUPPLIES 1.0 Specifications Description USDA – ARS conducts research on histological analysis of plant and animal tissues and quantification of biomolecules such a proteins and nuclei acid in tissue sections. USDA – ARS requires a multimodal microscope slide scanner and integrated analysis software and computer capable of brightfield and fluorescent imaging. The slide scanner is utilized to view, collect and analyze histological images from standard stains, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent and FISH applications. The instrument should meet or exceed the specifications of the Aperio FL120 Scanner, Brand Name or Equal. Slide Scanner System Requirements: A multimodal instrument that combines automated high-performance microscopy, image acquisition, scanning, and resolution of images of 5.5 micron X 5.5 micron pixel size in brightfield and 6.5 X 6.5 micron in fluorescence using dual-mode CMOS camera. Instrument should provide fully automated scanning and interactive scanning with automated tissue identification and ability to scan in x, y and z planes. Z-plane scanning should be 0.1 - 3 micron steps for fluorescent imaging. Should be able to create a 3D representation of a specimen. Ability to capture information from whole slides using brightfield and fluorescence. Capacity to load and scan 120 slides in one session. Scan speed for a standard 15 X 15 mm slide at 20X should be less than 450 seconds. Provide minimum 8 slot automatic filter wheel for multiple fluorescent filters. Have 20X and 40X APO objectives and must have additional capacity to accommodate 40X and 63X oil objectives, and with an automated oiler. Provide LED light source capable of DAPI, GFP, Orange, CY5, Red and CY7 imaging. Be equipped with an autoloader to move slides. Provide a workstation with seamless software for control of scanner, image acquisition, image analysis and storage. Weight of the system should be less that 120 kg and Dimensions should be should be accommodatable in existing lab space. Provide comprehensive installation and training, and customer support for troubleshooting run setup and data output issues. B. Incidental Services: Install one Slide Scanner, computer and software at location per Section 2.0. Training Requirements: Training shall occur immediately following installation. One year of additional phone and virtual meeting support shall be available. 2.0 Place of Delivery Delivery FOB: Responsive Agricultural Food Systems Research Unit, 498 Olsen Blvd, TAMU 2250, College Station, TX 77843 A loading dock is available and located at the back of the building. Training will occur on-site. Facility Access: No badges or background checks are required. A federal employee will be assigned to authorize the contractor and their workers entry. Contractor employees will be escorted and monitored throughout the building. Work shall be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
