DISTRIBUTION: DoD COMMUNITY ONLY Scope of Work Old Sawmill Road Culvert Repairs Project # 26-0045 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This project will repair a sinkhole that has formed over a failed reinforced concrete pipe segment on Old Sawmill Road at the intersection with Holcomb Blvd. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS: 1. Saw cut and remove asphalt pavement as required to expose the failed storm drain pipe (approx. 12lf) 2. Remove and dispose of concrete curbing and flume as required to facilitate the excavation required to replace the failed storm drain pipe. 3. Excavate to expose the failed reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) and inspect adjacent pipe and structures for further damage. 4. Remove and dispose of damaged RCP, bedding material, and any unsuitable or voided soils. 5. Fill all subsurface voids beneath the roadway and around the drainage system with compacted select fill. Ensure not to damage any other pipe segments or joints that are not to be replaced. Ensure pipe bedding is stable. 6. Install new 18-inch RCP class iv or V (existing is class V) complete with gasketed joints, bedding, and backfill in accordance with detail sheet C501. Ensure all joints are sealed properly. If necessary, use an external joint coupler on the joint between the existing pipe and the new pipe to assist in sealing the joint in addition to the gasketed joints or if a butt joint is required. 7. Compact backfill in 6" lifts to 95% maximum dry density as determined by a modified proctor (D1557) 8. Retain existing drainage structures and existing pipe not demolished to the maximum extent possible. 9. Restore pavement section, curbing, flume, and any other existing items that were demolished to match existing conditions prior to demo. See pavement section on detail sheet C501. 10. Dispose of all materials off base. GENERAL NOTES: 1. Contractor must locate all underground utilities, including telecommunications and commercial cabling, prior to ground disturbing activities. Notify base telephone of any conflicts with any direct bury or conduit communication utilities 30 days prior to digging. 2. Contractor must field verify all measurements. 3. Preserve and protect all existing utilities, including telecommunications and commercial cabling. 4. Contractor is responsible for any damage to utilities, including telecommunications and commercial cabling. 5. Contractor is responsible to coordinate commercial cabling with commercial cabling providers 6. All utility work must be in accordance with applicable state and base codes. 7. Contractor must coordinate all construction activities with the contracting officer. 8. Sod any disturbed areas upon completion of construction. 9. Jobsite must be kept clear of all debris and trash. 10. Contractor must be responsible for all aspects of environmental, health and safety (EHS). Contractor shall be responsible for complying with its policies and procedures related to EHS matters. -- 1 of 1 --
