Building was constructed in 2005. The existing Rooftop Unit (RTU) system serves the building entry, locker/changing room areas, and common/lab space. Cooling is provided by direct expansion method, and the heating is provided by modulating fire to heat exchanger LP. Both systems are housed within one RTU. The unit is mounted to concrete slab on grade. The animal holding area has no mechanical cooling. Ventilation is provided by sidewall windows in the area with continuous ridge vents in the roof. Heating is provided by LP radiant tube heating tubes mounted high in the ceiling. Constant use, equipment/facility age, and environmental conditions have contributed to the deterioration of the equipment serving the building and the cost of LP and service contract justify the need to convert fuel to natural gas. 2.0 Scope of Work This acquisition requires labor, material, and equipment needed to complete the following: Remove and replace the existing Rooftop Unit (RTU) concrete equipment pad. Remove existing 4-Ton pad mounted RTU unit to include: external metal ductwork from the RTU to the building, electrical conduit, wires, circuit breaker, and natural gas hookup. Furnish and install new RTU on a 24” high metal curb. See page 9 “Equipment Schedules” in drawings. Furnish and install (4) Gas fired radiant tube heaters (RTH 1-4) including pressure regulators, shutoff valves, hangers, pipe unions, and intake/exhaust metal ductwork at each heater. Pipe and fittings Schedule-40 steel. Reuse existing thermostats and wires. RTH-5 and its thermostat, conduits, and wires shall be removed. Remove existing intake/vent for RTH-5, fill hole with submitted and approved fire caulk and install sheet metal patch and seal holes in the interior and exterior of wall and roof. Sheet metal patches shall be coated with red “rust” colored primer. Remove wires back to main breaker panel and conduit back to nearest junction box and plug the hole. Furnish and install (1) hanging gas-fired unit heater including conduit, wiring, gas piping and venting pipes. Furnish and install Four (4) sight proof air-transfer door grills into existing doors. Locations shown on page 6 of the drawings. Refer to Equipment Schedules page 9 of the drawings for information. Furnish and install one (1) return-air grill through the wall as shown in location on page 6 of the drawings. Refer to Equipment Schedules page 9 of the drawings for information. For placement of new return air grill see detail on page 6 of the drawings. Ductwork Insulation: Ductwork insulation needs to meet most recent Iowa Energy code for thickness and R value.Jacketing: Factory-laminated aluminum/polymer weather-resistant cladding (e.g., Alumaguard, ArmaTuff, VentureClad) compliant with ASTM C1775; zero-perm, UV/abrasion-resistant.Fire Rating: ≤ 75 flame spread / 150 smoke-developed per ASTM E84.Moisture Control: Vapor permeance ≤ 0.02 perms; all seams and overlaps sealed with compatible tape/adhesive.Corrosion: Facing or facing adhesive meets ASTM C871 corrosion limits for stainless and carbon steel.Installation: Applied over insulation per SMACNA standards; supports installed to prevent insulation compression; jacket sealed at transitions with factory tape. Remove existing LP fuel line and regulators from the LP(Liquid Propane) storage tanks to building entry point. Note: LP tanks will be removed by USDA. Uninstall bollards from LP tanks area and remove from site. Furnish and install approximately 67 feet of 2-inch High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) gas piping and two 2-inch cast iron plug valves (e.g. A.Y. McDonald 10687B) connecting to existing 2-inch gas main pipe as shown on page 2 of the drawings. Furnish and install two 51/4-inch Clean in Place valve boxes with adjustable top sections. (e.g. Bingham & Taylor P5B with PVC extension and cap). Furnish and install 3/8-inch pea gravel at a depth of 6-inches as a base underneath the valve box for stability. New piping shall be buried , trenched or bored, at a minimum of 36-inches. 12-gauge tracer wire shall be installed with the piping. All joints shall be connected using HDPE Electrofusion type couplings. Furnish and install 2-inch anode-less riser, regulator, shutoff valves, flow meter & gas meter set with volume pulser. The Contractor shall provide manufacturer's standard anode-less risers. Anod-less risers shall be of swaged gas-tight construction with O-ring seals, metal insert, and protective sleeve with 7 to 12 mil thick epoxy coating. Provide support for the riser. Install new natural gas regulator before the new meter (e.g. Maxitrol 325-9L and at each heating device (e.g. Maxitrol 325-5L).
