This work includes, but is not limited to, the following: - Full commercial garage door hardware overhaul to restore function, safety, and longevity. o Servicing all barrels and hoods, replacing springs and other associated hardware, and completing a full system test ensuring 100% functionality of all six garage doors. o Existing garage doors are to remain. - Removal and replacement of five industrial duty hoist operators. - Installation of five commercial grade infrared safety sensor systems. - There are (4) 10’x10 doors, (1) 8’x8’ internal door, and (1) 12’x12’ door. 2.0 Background The Nederland Work Center Engine Bay is located in Nederland, CO. There are various existing garage door components that are not functioning properly and need servicing, repairing, and/or replacing. 3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks The contractor shall install the garage doors components according to State and Federal laws and regulations. All work must occur between 0800-1700, Monday through Friday, and no work shall occur on weekends or Federal holidays. Contractor must ensure that they do not interfere with U.S. Forest Service fire operations and personnel, which may occur in the work area. Contractor must allow Forest Service personnel, engines and equipment to come and go at any given moment. Contractor must submit a proposed plan on how they will allow Fire operations to continue during construction. Contractor must ensure that doors do not remain open after working hours and can be secured. Definition of Pay Items: Base Items (BI): 1. Base Item No. 1 – Mobilization a. This base item consists of all preparatory work and operations necessary for the movement of personnel, equipment, supplies, and incidentals to the project site, and for all other work and operations that must be performed or that cause costs to be incurred prior to beginning work on the various items on the project site. This base item applies to work included in the base items only. b. Warranties are required for all materials, parts, and labor for a 1 year min. c. Payment shall be made at the contract lump-sum price. 2. Base Item No. 2 – Full Servicing (Repairing and Replacing) of Barrel and Hood Components a. This base item includes the repair of six (6) barrels and hoods, and all associated hardware, including disassembly, spring removal replacement and installation, fine-tuning bearings and end guides, removal of existing safety edges and associated parts (to be replaced with photo eye sensors), full re-assembly back onto existing doors, and performance of a full system test to ensure 100% functionality. Existing garage doors are to remain. b. There are (4) 10’x10 doors, (1) 8’x8’ door, and (1) 12’x12’ door. c. This base item consists of all materials, personnel, labor, equipment, hardware, and supplies to ensure 100% functionality of the interface between garage door operations and barrel and hood -- 3 of 6 -- 4 components. d. All removed associated parts from this line item must be hauled off-site to a state-approved Landfill or recycled. e. Payment shall be made for each servicing of barrel and hood components. All work necessary to ensure 100% functionality of the garage door/barrel and hood interface are incidental to this line item. 3. Base Item No. 3 – Removal and Replacement of Industrial Duty Hoist Operators a. This base item includes the removal and replacement of five (5) industrial duty hoist operators, including the performance of a full system test to ensure 100% functionality.
