The Contractor shall provide services for the following tasks marked by an “X”: [X] Provide a cost proposal to complete the project as per project requirements. [X] Provide and install all material to complete the project as per project requirements. -- 3 of 12 -- 4.0 PROJECT REQUIREMENTS: The contractor shall provide all management, supervision, labor, equipment, and tools to replace roof and wall ridge vents in eight PGEC greenhouse rooms. -- 4 of 12 -- -- 5 of 12 -- a. The Contractor will work with Location Monitor and other site personnel to ensure minimum downtime as heating the and cooling of the building will likely be affected. b. The Contractor’s work shall adhere to the criteria stated within these project requirements. All construction shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local code requirements as well as current industry standards, (ie: EPA, ASTM, GSA, AASHTO, etc.) and health and safety codes, in effect at the time of contract award. c. All work must meet all pertinent Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) and ARS 242.1M standards. This project falls under the DAVIS BACON Wage Act. e. The Contractor is responsible for visiting the site prior to submitting a bid to observe existing conditions. No compensation will be provided for conditions that would be visible during an on-site visit for people experienced in performing this type of work. 4.1 Background & Site Description: The project site is the main building of the Western Regional Research Service located at 800 Buchanan Street, Albany, CA, 94710. The contractor is responsible for determining the scope of the inspections and tests to meet the code requirements in 4.0 above. 4.2 Bid Schedule: A quotation for the following items: Repair or replace as necessary for full functionality ridge vents in eight PGEC greenhouse rooms. 4.3 Description of Work: Provide all management, supervision, labor, equipment, and tools to replace rack and pinion ridge vents (both roof and wall) in PGEC Greenhouse 1, rooms 1 to 6, and in PGEC Greenhouse 2, rooms 1 and 2. All roof vent systems are dual (with vents opening on each side of the top ridge). The chart below details the number and length of units in each room. Pictures are attached. Site visits are strongly encouraged and welcome to understand the full scope of the required work. • The contractor shall remove and dispose of existing systems. • The contractor shall be responsible for the disconnection and reconnection of electrical wiring for the demolished & newly installed system. • There are existing mercury switches on many of the motors. The contractor shall gather these mercury switches and provide them to the USDA, the USDA will be responsible for the disposal of these mercury switches. The contractor is responsible for the disposal of everything else. • The contractor should use new steel rack and pinions (or an alternative similar functioning system). • The contractor shall replace all drive shafts. • The contractor shall replace all screens, screen frames and brushes. Replacement screen and frame shall be stainless steel or equivalent (more durable than the existing nylon, aluminum, and steel screens). -- 7 of 12 -- • Contractor shall provide schedule for work completion. Greenhouse availability must be carefully coordinated with USDA personnel to minimize disruption to ongoing research. -- 8 of 12 -- 4.4 Government Furnished Equipment\Services a. none 5.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: 5.1 Permits: Where governing regulations and imposed codes and standards require notices, permits, licenses, inspections, tests, and similar items or actions in order to lawfully proceed with the required work, the Contractor shall obtain items and take those actions in accordance with the regulations of the governing authority. The costs of such permits, licenses, inspections, etc., are the obligation of the Contractor. 5.2 Existing Installations / Demolition: Contractor shall modify existing installations as needed to accommodate the new installation. Contractor shall coordinate modification of existing installations with Owner. All disturbances of existing systems shall be thoroughly coord
