Project
Purchase and installation of a Gerstel Freestyle Robotic System with SPE module for automatic immune affinity column (IAC) sample cleanup, concentration and preparation.
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
The Contractor shall deliver one Gerstel Freestyle Robotic system to , 6567 Chancey Mill, Blakely, GA 39823. Delivery includes install of the instrument and training for employees.
2.0 Background
National Science Laboratory-Blakely (NSL-B) is the reference USDA laboratory for aflatoxin levels in nuts and nut products. It is essential that the laboratory maintain scientific support capabilities for nuts that are covered under AMS Marketing Agreements and Orders (MA&O). Additionally, the NSL-Blakely provides AMS Commodity Procurement with scientific support and testing of USDA purchased nut and nut products that include aflatoxin level requirements. Nuts and Nut products analyzed include Pistachio, Almonds, Peanuts, Walnuts, Hazelnuts (Filberts), Pecans and Peanut Butter. National Current procedures for aflatoxin sample preparation require cleanup, concentration and preparation using IAC columns. This cleanup requires several manual steps that must be performed carefully and methodically. The Freestyle Automated IAC column robot can perform these tasks repeatably and unattended. Addition of this equipment will automate and modernize aflatoxin analysis improving service to stakeholders.

Work should be completed in as short a timeframe as possible to minimize disruption to the laboratory workflow. Ideally, the instrument will be operational for lab use immediately.
6.0 Travel
Travel outside the local metropolitan area is not required. However, if travel is required, it shall be completed in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel
The contractor shall designate key personnel essential to the contract performance. Any diversion of key personnel requires prior written consent from the Contracting Officer or Contracting Officer Representative.
8.0 Security Requirements
The Contractor’s employees shall not enter the project site without appropriate badge. They may also be subjected to inspection of their personal effects when entering or leaving the project site. Possession of weapons are prohibited. No photography of the SRTD premises is allowed without written permission of the Contracting Officer or Contractor Officer Representative. SRTD reserves the right to close or shut down the project site and order contractor’s employees off the premises in the event of a national emergency or violation of safety policy. Smoking is prohibited inside the facility, mechanical rooms, warehouse area, roofs, etc.
9.0 Data Rights
Data Rights: The Government has unlimited rights to all documents and materials produced under this contract. All documents and materials, to include the source codes of software, produced under this contract shall be Government owned and are the property of the Government with all rights and privileges of ownership and copyright belonging exclusively to the Government. These documents and materials may not be used or sold by the Contractor without written permission from the Contracting Officer. All materials supplied to the Government shall be the sole property of the Government and may not be used for any other purpose. This right does not abrogate any other Government rights. 1.16 Non-Disclosure Requirements: Performance under this contract may require the Contractor to access data and information proprietary to a government agency, another Government Contractor, or of such nature that its dissemination or use other than as specified in this work statement would be adverse to the interests of the Government or others. The Contractor and Contractor personnel shall not divulge, or release data or information developed, or obtained under performance of this PWS, except to authorized Government personnel or upon written approval of the Contracting Officer.
