Statement Of Work Rerouting Electrical Conduits in Kitchen A) Introduction Here at the Phoenix Rearing Facility (PRF) we specialize in the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT). We work with farmers to reduce the number of insects that damage their crops by using SIT. The PRF is one component in multi-faceted areawide pest control project dedicated to reducing the impact of Navel Orangeworm on American agriculture. B) Background and Justification USDA PRF has been in its current location since 1992. The building covers 69,00 square feet. Our kitchen area is where we cook diet for the insects using an extruder. There is also a mixing blender that is used to mix dry ingredients such as wheat, soy and sugar. The mixing blender has a control panel that has around 16 control wires running in a 2” rigid conduit. It also has supply voltage of 240 volts 3 phase power coming in another 2 “rigid conduit. Both of these 2” rigid conduit come out of the ground in between the extruder and the mixing blender causing a major tripping hazard. We are requesting that the 2” conduits be rerouted overhead to remove the tripping hazard. There is plenty of space overhead for the conduits to be rerouted. After supply power and control wires are rerouted overhead, we would like to have the 2” conduits be removed and floor sealed where the conduits are coming out of. C) Scope of Work The PRF would like to have a licensed electrician remove the 2” conduit tripping hazard and reroute the supply power and control wires overhead to the mixing blender. The breaker panel for the 240-volt 3 phase supply power is located in the next room where the electrician will have to run new conduit through a wall to the mixing blender. The control wire panel is located within 10 feet from the mixing blender. We prefer that the electrician uses rigid conduit and seals all connections to prevent electrical arching. We do have fine dust particles from wheat and soy which can become highly flammable. The kitchen possesses a dust collecting system which gathers most of the dust particles. (Tripping hazard) D) Technical requirements 1) Contractor shall use proper materials and wires as to code. 2) Contractor shall use proper breakers for supply amperage as to code. 3) Contractor shall provide all materials for the project and dispose of all removed materials and wires. 4) Contractor shall provide all professional certified electricians to complete the work. 5) Contractor shall provide best practice for electrical work completion. 6) Contractor shall rewire all control wires to the devices it controls. No splicing of wires in the control panel or mixer control panel. 7) Contractor shall test and make sure there are no damages on new electrical lines and conduit. 8) Contractor should practice safety and have a clean work area as we well have staff working in the area. 9) Contractor shall backfill and seal the floor holes where conduit is removed from. 10) All new overhead conduits will be secured. 11) If any other damages to walls, ceilings, piping or equipment occurs during the project and is caused by the contractor, the contractor shall be responsible for repairs. 12) Contractor shall provide equipment or man lifts as needed to complete the work. 13) USDA will not provide tools or lifts to contractor. E) Period of performance Completion of electrical work and testing within 4 weeks after award.
