Specifications Swine Feed FY26 GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Background and Purpose: Scientists at the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) are developing scientiĮc information and new technology to solve high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries. A large portion of our eīort is in the swine industry, the following is regarding a list of feed and feed additives that are required to feed our swine population. 2. Technical Requirements: The contractor should provide Brand Name or Equal to the below listed swine feed and feed additives. (Feed Requirements Listed at bottom of document): Description Quantity Unit HE WOA Pellets (delivered in 50# bags) 200 50# Bags SS-400 Plus Premix (delivered in 50# bags) 400 50# Bags HD-80 Plus Premix (delivered in 40# bags) 425 40# Bags 40 LT Premix (delivered in bulk quantities) 22 TON Sow Base AA80 Eco Plus (delivered in 40# bags) 1350 40# Bags a) A pelleted ration will be for pigs from weaning to 15 pounds. It shall contain Brand Name or Equal to Provent, which is a Direct Fed Microbial (DFM) that promotes gut health in the pig. b) The SS400 premix, HD 80 premix, and the Advantage Sow Base AA 80 shall include Brand Name or Equal to Visano, which is a Direct Fed Microbial (DFM) that promotes gut health in the Įnishing and mature animals. c) Brand Name or Equal to M-Mobilize, a combination mold binder/inhibitor, will be included in the HE pellets, SS440 premix, HD80 premix, and Advantage Sow Base AA 80. d) A complete base mix for the following rations and a cost of product per ton: i) Nursery ration for pigs 15 to 25 pounds ii) Nursery ration for pigs 25 to 50 pounds iii) 50 to 100 pounds iv) 100 to 150 pounds v) 150 to 265 pounds e) A complete base mix for the sows and a cost of product per ton including: i) Gestation ii) Lactation iii) Gilt Developer f) The base mix will be delivered on a regular basis. This will enable us the keep a stable product on hand. -- 1 of 4 -- Specifications 3. Quality Control: a. Any feed delivered that is of poor quality will be rejected. b. The vendor will make regular contact with the swine operations manager to assure the product provided meets the expected standards. • “Regular contact” is defined as a phone call of an onsite visit every 60 days. • “Expected standards” is defined as what the current recommendations are in the swine industry. As research finds improvements to the diets that are beneficial to production they are implemented into the current rations. c. Provide periodic review of rations for optimal performance relative to commercial rations while meeting the guidelines of the research requirements also. • “Periodic review” is defined as Biannual. • “The guidelines of the research requirements” stated that all other factors outside of the intended research shall remain static. It is important to have a consistent product that does not change the production of the animal during ongoing research. d. Provide monitoring for the completed rations, by testing samples, to assure that they are balanced properly, check the Įneness of the grind, and have no mold/toxin issues. e. Provide quality control for the mold/toxins in our corn to monitor possible issues there. 4. Deliverable/Schedule/Address: a. Vendor will need to coordinate with feed mill operations to make delivery schedule. Generally, the feed will be delivered once per month or on an as needed basis throughout the period of performance. The deliveries will begin upon award and continue until 06/30/2027. Deliveries are to be made in the timeframe of Monday-Friday 7:00am- 3:30pm. b.
